Kerala Engineering Alumni(KERA), a professional body of the oldest 9 engineering colleges in Kerala, India formally launched their updated community website (kerauae.org) on 23rd April 2010, Friday in Dubai. The website was inaugurated by Mr. Ahmad Nassef, VP & Managing Director , YAHOO Middle east in a function attended by representatives from all the 9 member colleges. The website may be accessed by visiting www.kerauae.org.

The website was created by Network Gulf on Joomla CMS platform and includes many community and collaboration functionalities like technical forum, photo gallery, placement cell, classifieds, family corner etc. The aim of the website is to provide a platform for it's members to exchange ideas and knowledge to support each other.

Members from the 9 alumni association that form KERA can register at the site to gain access to the large number of member resources and functionality that the website offers. A website team working under the direction of the KERA executive committee oversee the administration and management o of the website and it's content.

When KERA approached NGIT to do this project, they had many ideas of how the website should be. Though it took quite some time for our technical team to clearly map the requirements to available technologies in the end the site could full fill the ideas of all the team members.

Due to the voluntary nature of the organization, there were serious budget limitations and so we had to look for a very cost effective solution without compromising on quality and functionality. The complete site if built on Open-Source technologies, so that the initial and running costs remain low.

NetworkGulf has compiled and delivered a comprehensive consultancy report to Madar International School , Al Ain on their proposed migration to Linux and Open-source. This report outlines the advantages, possible problems and the way forward for the school in their migration plans. The report is being evaluated by the school management to decide on a suitable time frame to take the project further.
